Furness Insurance Services go full throttle with its Pan-European Business Plan

January 14, 2021

The turn-key provider of Professional and Financial Lines Insurance Solutions announced the start of its operations in Spain and in BeNeLux, and the appointment of three senior figures at the top of its business divisions, namely Broking/Delegated Authority, Underwriting and Claims Handling, a signal of strength and resilience in the midst of the combined challenges mounted by Brexit and by the pandemic crisis:

  • Victor Manuel Moreno de Juan – Director of Business Development is the first employee of the newly incorporated Furness Iberia, general representative of the Spanish Branch of International Professional Risks Europe (IPR) Lloyd’s Broker, in charge of the strategic expansion of the group’s operations in Spain and Portugal. After 8 years at Marsh, Victor managed the Insurance Unit at the Abanca Operador De Seguros bank in Madrid.
  • Matteo Riboni became IPR’s Head of Broking and International Business Development, moving to the London notwithstanding the United Kingdom left the European Union. Matteo matured over 15 years of experience as a broker and business developer within Assigeco, the Italian Specialist Broker and Lloyd’s Coverholder, his appointment is the testament of the historical partnership between Assigeco and FIS group, and of the ties of both with the Lloyd’s Market.
  • Finally, Michele Nosei – the veteran casualty loss adjuster previously Country Claims Manager at QBE – was offered the role of Special Advisor to CHP Legal, the captive TPA Claims Handling outfit of the Furness Insurance Services group.

The City of London had over 3 years to prepare for Brexit and only 3 weeks to prepare for the lockdown. Furness’ business model demonstrated a remarkable level of resilience and ability to adjust to everchanging constrictions and logistical hurdles. The group renewed its commitment to both the City of London and to the London Market whilst trebling its presence in Continental Europe with the Madrid, Brussels and Milan offices now fully operational. Furness is financially strong, open for business, and fighting fit.” commented Furness Insurance Services CEO Bernardo Gozzi.
